On the URL
Corpuscularianism, similar to the well-known theory of atomism, attempts to explain the structure of matter. Dissimilar to the latter, it proposed that all physical bodies possess an inner and outer layer of minute particles known as corpuscles which could in principle be divided. This difference made advocates of corpuscularianism, people like Boyle, Newton and Locke to believe in the idea that some of the properties that objects appear to have are artifacts of the perceiving mind: 'secondary' qualities as distinguished from 'primary' qualities. The theory was popular in the 17th century and was used by Newton in his development of the corpuscular theory of light (which, though incorrect and unable to explain diffraction, interference and polarization of light survived for about a 100 years mainly because it was a brain child of Newton). I should also add that it sounds very appealing to me as a URL title and that I was lacking the willingness and creativity to find another name. Since you have bared with me along this text which includes what one might characterize useless knowledge, I think you deserve a funky image to trip in. Also, welcome and I sincerely hope you will enjoy the ride.
